With her parents she came to Nebraska when it was yet a territory, locating near Plattsmouth. She lived at home until 1884, teaching school several years in the district school of Cass county (sic). Read More	The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, May 31, 1917; pg. 1 MRS. W.H. BROOKHART Lizzie Horning was born near New Castle, Indiana, February 7, 1860. With her parents she came to Nebraska when it was yet a territory, locating near Plattsmouth. She lived at home until 1884, teaching school several years in the district school of Cass county (sic). On January 1st, 1884, she was married to W.H. Brookhart who was just opening up a new farm in Nuckolls county (sic). They moved here in the spring following. After a residence of thirty-two years, they built a new home north of Nelson and made their first move. She was converted and joined the United Brethren church (sic) at her old home. After moving to Nuckolls county (sic), she with her husband joined the Evangelical Association. Several years later they joined the Pleasant View Class, she being teacher of the young ladies class. Their family consisted of six boys four of whom died in infancy. Roy and Evan the surviving children live near the old home. Mrs. Brookhart died of heart failure, so it was hard for the kind friends and neighbors to realize she was gone. The funeral was held at the U.B. church (sic) on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, being conducted by Rev. S.B. Dillow of Hastings. Interment was made in the Nelson cemetery (sic).
