Description	:	Susanna May Kephart, daughter of Josiah and Sara Kephart, was born near Republic City, Ks., on April 8, 1877, and passed away Febr. 15, 1963, in the Republic County Hospital at Belleville, Ks., at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 7 days. Susie was converted and joined the United Brethern (sic) Church in Republic City at the age of 11 years. She was married to James H. Magee in Belleville, Ks., Aug. 15, 1900, at which time she became the mother of Ethel, Irvin, and Ivil Magee. Later two children were born to this union, Homer and Martha. In 1901 she and her husband united with the Christian Church in Chester and soon after came to Chester to live. In 1915 they moved to Seneca, Ks. In 1924 they bought a hotel in Marysville, Ks., and made that their home until Jan. 12, 1937, when they came back to live in Chester. Her family was saddened by the death of her husband, James H. Magee, Jan. 4, 1946. She was also preceded in death by two children, Irvin Magee and Ethel Kephart. Later she married W.H. Fraley of Chester April 30, 1950. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, W.H. Fraley, three children: Homer Magee of Los Angeles, Calif., Martha Mohrbacker of Marysville, Ks., Ivil Magee of Chester; three sisters, Mrs O. D. Grim of Belleville, Ks., Mrs. Stella Mitchell of Cache, Okla., Mrs. William Eckel of Parsons, Ks.; one brother, E.W. Kephart of Republic City, Ks.; one grandson and a host of relatives, which include seven other step children and friends. She had taught a Sunday school class almost continuously since she was 16 years old. Her greatest enjoyment was working in the church and Sunday school and trying to help someone to a better and happier life. Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church, Chester, Sunday, Febr. 17, with Rev Paul Wickenkamp officiating. Singers were Mrs. Howard Reed, Mrs. Edward Reed, Mrs. Donald Eickman and Mrs. Melvin Crouse with Mrs. Arlys Ballinger, accompanist. Casket bearers were Kenneth Dake, Adrian Dake, Harold O'Neal, Floyd Sims, Hugh Spafford, Robert O'Neal. Interment was made in the Chester cemetery (sic) with Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
