Moorhouse Dies at 92 Years Oldest Resident of Vinita Township Passes Away After Long Illness Mrs. Susann Moorhouse, 92, oldest resident of Vinita township both in age and the number of years she had lived there, died at her home Tuesday, July 14, after a prolonged illness. Her death came in her home on the farm where she had lived continuously since the family came to Kingman county in 1883. A native of Virginia, Mrs. Moorhouse was born October 23, 1849. When she was eight years of age her family moved to Illinois, where she grew to womanhood and where she married to Marvin Moorhouse November 17, 1872. when they came to Kansas they settled on a farm southwest of Murdock, which was the only Kansas home Mrs. Moorhouse knew during her fifty-nine years of residence in this county. Mr. and Mrs. Moorhouse farmed extensively, raised a fine family, and the name of Moorhouse became known throughout the eastern part of the county as a symbol for uprightness, honesty and fair dealing. Mr. Moorhouse died January 2, 1931. After the death of her husband, her brother, Frank Seiver, made his home with her until his death. She was the last of her immediate family. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Murdock Thursday morning, conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. A. Potter. Surviving are three sons, Dallas and Ed of Cheney and Oran of Murdock, and two daughters, Mrs.. Effie Beshore of Kingman and Mrs. Ada Kostner of Murdock. Also one grandson, Harold Irby, who was taken into her home in his infancy and reared as one of the family. She had seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
