At the age of six years she removed with her family to Morning Sun, Iowa, and continued her residence here until the time of her death, having been a resident of this community for 56 years. Her death took place at the home of her son, F. E. Skinner, after an illness of fifteen weeks, at 3:30 a.m.. Wednesday, February 21, 1917, aged 87 years, 1 month and 2 days. Thus ending a long, patient, and useful life. The deceased was united in marriage to Joshua Skinner in 1858. To this union two children were born, Francis Edgar, and Mary Ida (Fent), who died in 1909. The husband gave up his life for his country in the great civil war. She was united in a second marriage to Hugh Paisley in 1871, who predeceased her in death. To mourn her death are Francis Edgar Skinner, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She early found Christ as a personal Savior, and lived a consistent Christian life, being a member of the First Presbyterian church, of Morning Sun. She was possessed of genuine piety, and walked with God, and her Savior Jesus Christ. She loved the House of God, and the precious promises of God's word, and was a woman of strong faith arid prayer. Her long life was filled with labors of love, and if today everyone whose life was blessed and brightened by her kindly acts could come and lay a flower upon her casket, she would sleep beneath a mountain of flowers. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them" The funeral service was held from the First Presbyterian church of Morning Sun, Thursday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the Reverend A. E. Cameron, assisted by the church choir. Interment was in Elmwood cemetery.
