Mrs. Wardyn was suffering from cancer of the stomach and had been an invalid for the past few months. Funeral services were held from the St. Francis Catholic Church and burial was made in the St. Francis cemetery. The American Legion boys, Joe Maschka, Ronald Rowe, E. Lewandowski, Tom Galczynski, Ben Jasnoch and Ed Lukasiewicz acted as pallbearers as a final tribute to Mrs. Wardyn who was a war mother, having lost a son, Ed Wardyn, in the World War. Susan Liski was born in Poland Dec. 25, 1859 and died at Ashton, Nebraska August 15, 1930, ages 70 years, 7 months and 21 days. She came to this country when 12 years of age and for five years lived in Chicago, at the age of 18 she was united in marriage to Anastazy Wardyn and the couple made their home in Howard County, where they lived on a farm until 20 years ago, when they moved to Ashton and have been residing here since. There were 12 children born to this union, 9 of which are living, Mrs. Anna Pawoski of Farwell, Mrs. Rosie Gappa of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Mary Lukasiewicz of Ashton, Peter Wardyn of Hazard, Mrs. Susie Wroblewski of Seneca, Tom Wardyn of Ashton, Mrs. Polly Pokorski, Mrs. Margaret Mueller and Vincent Wardyn of Omaha. There are also 34 grandchildren surviving and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Susie Wroblewski had been staying with her mother for the past month, caring for her and was with her at the time of her death.
