Description	:	Sylpha Crismon was also known as Zylpha Crismon. The surname is sometimes spelled Crisman. Sylpha Crismon is the daughter of Isaac Crismon and Caroline Case. Sylpha's mother Caroline died in May 1852, along with several other family members, after drinking bad water in Oregon. Her father Isaac, left Sylpha and her sister, Mary with his brother Archibald Hicks Crismon and his wife to raise. Isaac went back to Missouri, married Louisiana (Murphy) and never left Missouri. Her father Isaac, left Sylpha and her sister, Mary with his brother Archibald Hicks Crismon and his wife to raise. Isaac went back to Missouri, married Louisiana (Murphy) and never left Missouri. Sylpha married Allen Ensign Look on May 1, 1870 in Hydesville, California as his first wife. Allen and Sylpha had two sons before her death at age 21 years. Her sad obituary follows: Source: Humboldt Times Saturday Morning 1 March 1873 Zylpha Crisman, daughter of Issac Crisman and Caroline Crisman and wife of Mr. Allen Look of Hydesville, Calif. was born in Missouri on the 9th day of October A.D. 1851. She died at Hydesville on Tuesday Feb. 11, A.D. 1873 between the hours of 4 and 5 P.M. of Puerperal Peritonitis aggravated by an accident which occurred some months previous to her last illness, by which she was thrown from a buggy. Mrs. Look leaves behind her in addition to her husband a babe born in the illness which resulted in the Mother's death, and a little boy about 2 years old. It is said and a noticeable fact that when Mrs. Look was a child 7 months old, her mother died on the plains of cholera. The subject of this obituary expressed a hope in Christ, shortly before her death, she said to her attendants that she was going to HEAVEN. She requested the lady-friends to sing a hymn commencing with the words, " DEAR SAVIOUR---When I languish Etc. " In this hymn she joined for a line or two then her strength failed. Her only anxiety was for her little ones whom she was to leave behind her. This was but natural. But, no doubt, she was enabled at the last to place them, as she had done herself, in the care of the DEAR FATHER above. The funeral services, attended by a large concourse of friends and neighbors, took place in the M.E. Church at Rohnerville and were conducted by Revs.. W.C. Stewart and H.C. Smith of the Congregational and Methodist Churches. The Cemetery near Rohnerville was the spot chosen as the depository of the mortal remains of the deceased. Thus departed in her 22nd year, this young wife and Mother. May her soul rest in peace with the blessed Saviour, to whom she trusted herself in a dying hour.
