SYLVESTER DALTON DEAD The body of Sylvester Dalton arrived Sunday afternoon from Sterling, Colorado, where he had passed away Thursday January 23. Funeral services were held from the Congregational church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Powell of Barneston conducted the funeral, assisted by Rev. Harvey of the Congregational church. Mr. Dalton was 77 years of age. He was born in Illinois moving to the Liberty vicinity when he was a young man, his parents settling on a farm four miles southeast of Liberty, where Ves, as he was known to many continued to reside until he was united in marriage to Rhoda Kivvett, and they continued to reside on a farm near his parents for a number of years. Sometime over twenty years ago they moved to the west settling near Sterling, Colo. Last Monday he and his son, Harry, were picking corn when the team started to run, Mr. Dalton tried to jump on the wagon to catch the team and was thrown under the wheel breaking his leg. He was taken to the Sterling hospital where he developed pneumonia. Death came in a few days. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rhoda Dalton, one son, Harry, both of Sterling. one daughter, Mrs. Fred Rees, of the Mission Creek vicinity, a brother, Harley Dalton, who resides on the Dalton homestead southeast of Liberty. Two daughters preceded him in death, Mrs. Cora Drake and Mrs. Smith. Mr. Dalton was held in high esteem by all who knew him. The Dalton families were among the most prominent people of this vicinity. Mrs. Sylvester Dalton and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dalton accompanied the body to Liberty. Mrs. Fred Rees and Harley Dalton also accompanied the body as they had been called there by the serious illness of their father and brother.
