She passed away at the Fairview Manor Nursing Home in Fairmont on November 25, 1993, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 15 days. She was one of five children in the family. She passed away at the Fairview Manor Nursing Home in Fairmont on November 25, 1993, at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 15 days. She was one of five children in the family. Sylvia was married to Benjamin H. Newman at Belleville, Ks., in 1924 and to this union two sons were born. Ben died in 1949 at Fairmont. Sylvia then married Talmage (Pat) Horris of Fairmont in 1956. She remained a resident of Fairmont all of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Benjamin Newman and Talmage Norris; sisters, Jessie Havel, Tessie Barger and brother, Dorsey Armstrong. She is survived by her sons, Dale (Marceline) Newman of Westbrooke, Tx., and Vern (Sheryl) Newman of York; sister, Lucy Halverson of North Platte; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 29, at the Fairmont Public Cemetery with Rev. Tony Woodward officiating. The Nebraska Signal December 1st, 1993 page 14. 2nd Mrs. Marvin T.
