Mr. Guy had not felt as weel as usual all of last week, but he still visited the bank daily, having been there as late as Saturday afternoon. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Huffman Funeral Home. The body will be returned to Mr. Guy's home at 3 p.m. Wednesday, but will be taken back to the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Carrall cemetery. Mr. Guy, a retired farmer, was an extensive property owner, his holdings including farm lands and business buildings in Carroll and Jefferson. Coming to Carroll county in 1871, he had lived in Carroll since 1900. His parents, John and Susan Taylor Guy, natives of Cornwall county, England, came to America about the year 1850 and located at Warren, Mass., where Mr. Guy was born December 5, 1853. He was 12 years old when the family came to Iowa and settled in Clinton county. Six years later they located in Carroll county. Mr. Guy assisted his father with farming operations until early manhood, when he bought an Eden township farm and began farming and cattle raising for himself. He lived in the area of Elba, now an almost forgotten village, which has been merged into a farm place. In the early days he hauled produce to Carroll, an all-day job in transporting a load of wheat, which was then the principal crop. There was a bridge at Hillsdale (now Roselle), but there were no roads as they are called today. In the fall of 1895, Mr. Guy retired and moved to Atlantic. Five years later he came to Carroll. Mr. Guy was married in 1877 to Jane Perry, who died 11 months later. In 1881 he married Alice Campbell, who died many years ago. In 1913 he was married to Mrs. Frances Brown, who also preceded him in death. Mr. Guy leaves his step-daughter, Mrs. F. C. Beverley, who lived with him. Also surviving are a niece, Mrs. J. C. Guy, and nephew, C. E. Ellsworth, both of Carroll, and a niece and nephew in Clinton county. He was the last of his family, having been preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Belinda Guy Barber, and two brothers, William and George Guy. Mr. Guy was a member of the congregation of the First Presbyterian church.
