She attained the age of 93 years, nine months and 14 days. Tena Harms was born on a farm three miles south of Lennox, SD on Nov. 2, 1912, the daughter of Jacob and Abena (Bossman) Harms. She attended Vietor rural school and grew to womanhood there. On Jan. 3, 1934 she was united in marriage to Ernest H. Bunger at Turner County First Presbyterian Manse, rural Davis, SD. They farmed northeast of Davis until 1942 when they moved to their farm northeast of Hurley. They retired in 1975 to their home in Lennox. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1989 ending a marriage of over 55 years. She then continued to make her home in Lennox. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one grandson, Curtis Mikkelsen on Jan. 12, 1991; her two sons-in-law: Kenneth Mikkelsen on Oct. 2, 2000 and Willmer Thompson on May 28, 2001; two sisters: Minnie Handwerk on Mar. 2, 1991 and Dena Harms on Sep. 13, 1992, plus an infant brother and sister. Grateful for having shared her life are her two daughters: Esther Thompson of Madison and Thelma Mikkelsen of Hurley; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters: Rena Sinning of Lennox, Iva (Wilbur) Dykstra of Lennox and Jenola (Wesley) Olesen of Hurley.
