He lived his youth and attended school in the Netherlands coming to the United States as a young man. He was united in marriage to Dena Zeutenhorst of Sioux Center, Iowa on June 12, 1918, at Sioux Center, Iowa. The couple farmed near Sioux Center for 28 years, until 1946 when they moved to Sioux Center. After moving to Sioux Center he was a bee keeper for some years and also the custodian of the First Reformed Church for several years. Mrs. Jansen died Dec. 17, 1970 at Sioux Center, Iowa. He passed away Tuesday, July 22, 1975 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 3 days. He is survived by two sons and eight daughters; cora (Mrs. Arend Broek)of Sioux Center, Iowa, Edward of Sioux Center, Iowa; Anna (Mrs. Art Kamerman) of Orange City, Iowa; Hermina (Mrs. Willis Uittenbogaard) of Boyden, Iowa; Cornelius of Sioux Center, Iowa; Bernice (Mrs. Irvin De Vos) of Sioux Center, Iowa; Muriel (Mrs. Stanley Van Otterloo) of Orange City, Iowa; Harriet (Mrs. Eldon Tesch) of Orange City, Iowa; Gerdena (Mrs. John Miltenberger) of Sioux City, Iowa; Thelma (Mrs. Ron Van Zee) of Boyden, Iowa; 33 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren, three sisters, Stephena (Mrs. Jacob Gietz); Jans (Mrs. Everet Schut) both of the Netherlands and Marie (Mrs. William Workman) of Muskegon, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, a nine year old daughter, Gerdena, his wife Dens and three brothers.
