There will be a funeral service on Friday, March 25, at 2:00pm, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Carl Klompien will officiate. Interment will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. Visitation will be after 2:00pm on Thursday, with the family present from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull. Thane Rodney was born on December 11, 1934, in Hull, the son of Wilmar P. and Evelyn (Kroese) Marra. He was raised in Hull. On April 28, 1954, he married Bette Joan Kamies in Sheldon. They made their home in Hull, where he was employed at D & S Chevrolet for 45 years. He was a mechanic and their service manager, retiring at age 63. Mr. Marra was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church and the Senior Men's Club in Hull. He enjoyed fishing, wood crafting, and camping with his family. Thane was a loving husband and father, to whom spending time with his children and grandchildren was very important. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Bette; two sons and their wives, Randy and Kathy Marra and Dennis and Loreen Marra, all of Hull; two daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Randy Draayer and Brenda and Gary Anderson, all of Hull; eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Warren and Diane Marra, of Sioux Center; and Wayne and Adrianna "Mick" Marra, of Orange City; and a sister-in-law, Diana Marra, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brent Marra; and a brother, Eugene Marra. Memorials will be directed to the American Cancer Society.
