Cessna July 31, 1916–Feb. 9, 2005 Thelma E. CESSNA, 88, Life Care Center, Rochester, passed away at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Life Care Center. Born on July 31, 1916, in Monticello, she was the daughter of Arthur and Ellen Sandberg Sprague. She graduated from Monon High School in 1934, and attended Central Normal College in Danville before graduating from Indiana University in 1942 with a bachelor of science degree in education. On July 12, 1952, she married C. Howard Robbins. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1973. On Oct. 24, 1981, in Rochester, she married Eldon Cessna. He passed away on June 20, 2000. Mrs. Cessna was a Rochester resident since 1952. She taught at schools in Buffalo, Monon, Francesville and at Rochester Community Schools from 1953-1970. She started the Woodlawn Hospital Gift Shop in 1974 and continued as volunteer and co-manager with operation of the gift shop. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as deaconess and on the finance board; Eastern Star; a sustaining member of Tri Kappa Sorority; Woodlawn Hospital Auxiliary; and Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include one stepson, David Cessna, Greeley, Colo.; five stepgrandchildren; cousins, Karen Holcomb, Logansport, Guy Sandberg, Gordon Sandberg, both of Orlando, Fla., Max and wife Cindi Sandberg, Indianapolis, Joyce Sandberg, Logansport, Clay Sandberg, Indianapolis, Alan Sandberg, Dallas, Texas, Kristi Sandberg, David Sandberg, both of Logansport, Jessie Sandberg, Royal Center; and sister-in-law, Devereux and husband Eugene Kelley, Rochester. Burial and private graveside service will be at IOOF Cemetery, Rochester, with the Rev. Junior Bose officiating. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. Howard Robbins on July 12, 1952 . He died on June 20, 1973. She then married Eldon Cessna on Oct. 24, 1981 in Rochester. He died on June 20, 2000. She graduated from Monon High School in 1934. She attended Central Normal School in Danville before graduating from Indiana University in 1942 with a bachelor of science degree in education.
