Born Dec. 19, 1909, in Otterbein, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Olive Cross Abel. She graduated from Otterbein High School in 1925, and she was the first woman to graduate from Purdue University School of Pharmacy. She married M. Maurice "Bo" Goodnight on July 5, 1932, in Lafayette; he died in 1989. She graduated from Otterbein High School in 1925, and she was the first woman to graduate from Purdue University School of Pharmacy. She married M. Maurice "Bo" Goodnight on July 5, 1932, in Lafayette; he died in 1989. Mrs. Goodnight and her husband owned and operated Goodnight Drug Stores in Lafayette for many years before moving to Bradenton, FL, in 1970 for 25 years. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and vocalist with the choir. She was also a member of the Purdue Alumni Association and founder of Chapter AY of PEO. She served as a volunteer at Wabash Valley Hospital, was a volunteer with Girl Scouts of America for many years, and volunteered for the American Red Cross. For many years she was active in women's golf at the Lafayette Country Club and Elks Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge and flower gardening. Survivors include a son, Earle "Bud" Goodnight; a daughter, Janet (Mrs. Garland) Frey, both of Lafayette; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carole G. Reynolds, who died in 1996. Service Aug. 14, Hippensteel Chapel, the Rev.
