Description	:	Thelma Irene Decker, Burlington, Kan., died Jan. 29, 2006 at Life Care Center of Burlington. She was 85. She was born March 27, 1920, at Gridley, the daughter of Gustav Herman and Mary Louise Meyer Schankie. During her life she had worked at various jobs, among them was housekeeping at the Rocking R Motel, making pies for the Lakeview Café, operating a vending machine business, and helping with Decker Contracting. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Anna Kirk and Lena Horton; and a grandson, Lance Birk. Survivors include a son, James Decker and his wife Anna, Burlington; five daughters, Lois Carpenter and her husband Richard, Owasa, Okla., Cathy Wille and her husband Sheldon, Bedford, Texas, Marcia Birk and her husband Doug, Burlington, Patty Leffler and her husband Tom, Augusta, and Linda Lewis and her husband John, Burlington; a brother, Leo Schankie, Madison; 26 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Burlington. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Burlington. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with visitation following. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Garden at Life Care Center of Burlington.
