Description	:	Thelma Covert, 81, of #1 Pennsylvania Place, Ottumwa died at 8:10 am Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Hospice House. She was born Jan. 5, 1931 in Davis County to Kost and Lucille Benge Daugherty. She married William "Wally" Covert on Dec. 2, 1950. He preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 2004. A graduate of Bloomfield High Shcool, she had been an employed for Northwestern Bell, Answer Iowa and retired from Donovan and Roush. Surviving are two sons, Craig(Joni)Covert, of Goshen, Ind., and Ron(Cheryl)Covert, of Hedrick; two grandchildren, Cybil and Alex Covert; and a sister, Eileen Hillhouse, of Riverside. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Omer, Lindel, Darrell "Jiggs," Charles and Harlan Daugherty; and two sisters, Olive Henderson and Helen Mathias. Graveside services will be 11 am Tuesday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery; with Rev. James H. Wakelin officiating. The casket will remain closed. Visitation begins after 1 pm Monday at Reece Funeral Home, with the family present from 9:30-10:30 am Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties, Ottumwa, Iowa.
