Monday, November 1, 2004 at the First Mennonite Church, R. Beatrice, NE. Theodor A. "Ted" Goossen, 92 years of age, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice, NE. Friday morning, October 29, 2004. He was born on October 9, 1912 near Beatrice, NE. and lived in the Beatrice area his entire life. He and Dorthy Claassen were married on May 27, 1941 in Beatrice, NE. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church, R. Beatrice, NE., former member of the church board and past deacon, sang in the choir, and had taught Sunday School. He enjoyed singing in quartets. Survivors include his wife Dorthy; son Ronald Goossen of Los Angeles, CA.; daughter Darlene Dieckhoff of Lincoln, NE.; daughter in law Janet Goossen of Buffalo Gap, South Dakota; 4 grandchildren, Jathan & Jennifer Dieckhoff, Angelia & Melinda Goossen; 3 step grandchildren, Julianna & Jolene Hersch, and Stephanie Mattley; 2 step great grandchildren; and brothers Henry Goossen and his wife Edna of North Newton, KS. and William Goossen and his wife Mary of Beatrice, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Helen (Penner) Goossen; son Harvey Goossen; and sister Gertrude Wiebe. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 1, 2004 at the First Mennonite Church, R. Beatrice, NE. with Reverend Florence Schloneger and Reverend Weldon Schloneger officiating. Interment will be in the Mennonite Church Cemetery, R. Beatrice, NE. The body will lie in state Sunday from 12:00-9:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel and at the church one hour preceding the service. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. Monday at the church. A memorial has been established with Louis Esau Jr. and Louis Goossen in charge. Messages of condolence may be sent to [email protected] They will be forwarded to the family. Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, NE. is in charge of the services.
