Services were held Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amherst, with Rev. Theodore Schauland in charge. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Arrangements were in charge of the Lewis Funeral Home. The son of John and Anna Folkerts Weyerts, Theodore George Weyerts was born July 24, 1900 at Weyerts, Nebraska. In his infancy he was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Otto Hoyer. In 1913 the Weyerts family moved to Amherst. Mr. Weyerts attended schools at Amherst, Venango and Holyoke and was graduated from the Phillips County High School. He was also a graduate of Denver University, where he was a member of Eta Omega Delta fraternity. For several years he was employed as a pharmacist in Denver. He then returned to Amherst to assist his father in his grocery store. After the death of his father, Mr. Weyerts assumed management of the store. The business was sold in 1945. In 1940 Mr. Weyerts was appointed postmaster of Amherst. He held this position until his death. He was also engaged in farming in the Amherst community. Mr. Weyerts was an active member of the Lutheran Men's club at Amherst and served as vice president of that organization the past year. On July 1, 1934, Mr. Weyerts was united in marriage to Merna Folker in Denver. To this union were born three children. One son, Douglas, who was born in 1936, died in infancy. Surviving are his wife, Merna; two daughters, Sonia, who is attending school in Denver, and Nancy, at home; two sisters, Carlena (Mrs. James Marlin), Santa Monica, California, and Donelda (Mrs. Maynard Taylor), Los Altos, California, and many other relatives and friends.
