She died September 21, 2005. She was baptized March 19, 1916, and she reaffirmed her Baptismal promises at her Confirmation on January 6, 1933. On July 1, 1934 she married Theodore (Ted) Weyerts. They lived in Amherst and ran the Weyerts General Store until it was sold in 1945, and the post office. The couple had three children; Douglas, who died in infancy; Sonia; and Nancy. She died September 21, 2005. She was baptized March 19, 1916, and she reaffirmed her Baptismal promises at her Confirmation on January 6, 1933. On July 1, 1934 she married Theodore (Ted) Weyerts. They lived in Amherst and ran the Weyerts General Store until it was sold in 1945, and the post office. The couple had three children; Douglas, who died in infancy; Sonia; and Nancy. After Ted's death in 1957, Merna became the Amherst postmaster and held that position until she moved to Denver in 1959. From 1961 until her retirement in 1978, she was the purchasing agent for Kieruff Electronics in Denver. After retiring, Merna enjoyed spending more time with her family and friends, and visiting her two sisters in Holyoke and her brother and sister in California. Merna was a humble and extremely generous person who had a strong faith and loved her God and her family deeply. She joined Concordia Lutheran Church in 1965 and was a member of the Widows and Widowers Circle for many years and later a member of Prime Timers. In addition to her husband and infant son, Merna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Raymond Folker and Wayne Folker; and sisters Lenore Rodeman, Gladys Krueger, Eunice Bishop and Elva Wiggins. Merna is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Sonia and Don Carlson and Nancy and Jim Koratich of Lakewood; grandchildren Mitchell and Maureen Carlson of Arvada, Diane and Deon Kuhre of Golden, and Tamara Carlson of Westminster; great grandchildren Nicole and Austin Rickard of Golden and Elizabeth and Evan Carlson of Arvada; brother Rex Folker of Redding, California; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services for Merna Weyerts were held September 26, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Lakewood. Burial was in Holyoke Cemetery on September 27.
