Ted Esser was born February 25, 1905 in Lisbon, ND, to Paul and Sophia (Rueschenberg) Esser. His family moved to Frankfort, SD when he was a young child. He married Louise Haider on November 27, 1934 in Zell, SD. Together they farmed in the Frankfort and Redfield area. They moved to Redfield in 1963. He later resided at Lakeside Assisted Living and most recently at the Eastern Star Home. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus of Redfield, SD. He was also an active member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. His hobbies included playing cards, bingo and watching amateur baseball. Ted is survived by two sons: Charles (Monna) Esser of Redfield, SD; and Ron (Marlys) Esser of Redfield, SD; two daughters: Nadine (Jack) Barry of McHenry, IL; and Madonna (Gary) Servi of Wisner, NE; fourteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and two sisters: Monica Richtik of Gardenia, CA; and Loretta Muellenberg of Council Bluffs, IA. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995, five brothers, one grandson and one great granddaughter. Pallbearers will be Steve Esser, Dan Esser, John Esser, Jay Esser, Darin Esser, Shawn Servi and Jim Barry.
