Description	:	The funeral for Theodore J. Nill, 78, Ellendale, North Dakota was held on December 23, 1983, at the Presbyterian United Methodist Church, Ellendale, with Rev. Gerald Oliver officiating. Music was provided by a men's quartet from the Kulm Congregational Church. Burial was at the Ellendale City Cemetery with Holte Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Nill's grandsons were pallbearers: Douglas Nill, Kardell Nill, Jeffrey Nill, Gregory Nill, Anthony Buerkley, and Richard Hilscher. Mr. Nill's grandsons were pallbearers: Douglas Nill, Kardell Nill, Jeffrey Nill, Gregory Nill, Anthony Buerkley, and Richard Hilscher. Theo was born October 20, 1905, on the family homestead in western Dickey County to George and Karoline (Lemke) Nill. He was baptized as a small child and later was confirmed in the First Congregational Church, Kulm. He attended Whitestone School through the eighth grade. September 2, 1928, Theo was joined in marriage to Emma Rath at the Merricourt Congregational Church by F. W. Grosz. They started a farmstead 7 miles southwest of Merricourt where they operated a diversified grain-stock farm for 47 years. In October 1975, they moved to Ellendale, although retired, Theo loved farming and ranching and continued to come to the farm and help with work. He was a 35-year member of the North Dakota Stockmen's Association at the time of his death. Theo was a good husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren, with whom he was able to spend much time. Theo enjoyed good health until December 1, 1983, when he became ill. He was admitted to the Ellendale Hospital December 2 and tranferred to St. Luke's hospital in Aberdeen, South Dakota, December 8. He passed away there December 20, 1983, at the age of 78 years and 2 months. He is survived by his wife, Emma; two sons, Darwin (Diana) Monango, ND and Willis (Doris) Owatonna, MN; a brother and two sisters, Jake Sioux City, Iowa, Elsie Heinle, Mandan, ND and Mrs. Henry (Esther) Miller, Kulm, ND; eight grandchildren and six great granchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Theo will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
