Read More	Theodore Farner Dies as Result of Car Accident Thought to Have Been Drowned When Thrown into Water Near Metropolis, Ill., Thursday Night; Funeral in Creighton Tuesday Theodore J. Farner, of Davenport, Iowa, died as the result of a car accident, which occurred some time last Thursday night near Metropolis, Illinois. He was alone, driving from Davenport to Nashville, Tenn. to meet his wife, who was visiting with his brother and wife, when the tragedy occurred. He had covered about two-thirds of the distance in night driving and it is thought he might have gone to sleep and the car skidded off the road, turned over, throwing Farner in an irrigation ditch filled with water. He was found about 7 o'clock Friday morning. The coroner's verdict was that he came to his death by drowning. He had a bump on his forehead and a cut on his chin, but it was said neither appeared serious enough to cause death and no bones were broken. Jess, as he was familiarly known, formerly resided in Creighton and was interested in a store enterprise with his father in the location now occupied by Saloums Clothing Store. He was engaged in the store business at Stuart before moving to Davenport and previous to locating in Stuart had been in California for some time. Theodore Jesse Farner was the first white child born in Burke, South Dakota, May 18, 1905 to John J. and Kathryn Farner and died May 29, 1942 at the age of 37 years, 11 days at Metropolis, Illinois. He was married to Margaret L. Carder on October, 24, 1927 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. Preceding him in death was an older brother, who died in infancy and his mother, who died in 1932. Prior to his death he was located at Davenport, Iowa and was employed as a public accountant by Barrow, Wade and Gutheries of Chicago, Ill. Mr. Farner was a member of the First Baptist Church of Huntington Park, California and also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Creighton, Nebr. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, his father and sister, Ella of Los Angeles, California and two brothers, Lloyd of Nashville, Tenn. and John of Norfolk, Nebr. and many other sorrowing relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in Creighton at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church. Rev. P.W. Sawtelle of Fremont preached a comforting sermon. Casket carriers were Clyde Fisher, Spencer, Floyd and Jack Farner, Norfolk, True and Cecil Carder and Raymond Nejedly, Creighton. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
