OBITUARY Theodore P Pringle was born near Center Point, Iowa, Dec 8, 1850, and died in San Diego, California, April 28, 1931, aged 80 years, four months and 20 days. He leaves to mourn his loss, two sisters, Mary C Shaw of Falk, CA and Rachel Coffland of Watkins, IA; and a number of nephews and nieces to whom he was a wonderful brother and uncle. He came to Douglas when the town was founded in 1886 and lived here until the last 10 years. Since then he has been spending his winters in California, but always came back to his much loved home in Douglas (WY) for the summer. He was of a quiet, retiring disposition but most unselfish and generous. Many can testify to his benevolence. He was most interested in and ever ready to advance the interests of his home town. The funeral was held from the home of his nephew, Chas. Pringle, at Pringle, SD, Rev. Coulter officiating and interment was at Custer near his brother. The pallbearers were old friends from Douglas and Custer. The floral offerings were beautiful. The sisters were unable to attend and the relatives present were Chas. Pringle and family, Joseph Conlon and family, all of Pringle, SD, Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Spencer of Florence, CO, and Mrs. Francis Fairley of Nampa, Idaho. D.E. 5/12/1931 Another Article about Theodore Pringle: END CAME TO WYOMING PIONEER SUDDENLY LAST TUESDAY BURIAL AT CUSTER IN SOUTH DAKOTA Theodore Pringle, one of the early day settlers of this community and one of the founders of Douglas, having been a resident here for nearly a half century, was called in death at San Diego, California, last Tuesday, friends here were advised Wednesday, the end coming suddenly. Theodore Pringle was born in Center Point, IA, about 85 years ago, it is believed by his friends, though the exact date of his birth is not known. After spending a number of years in South Dakota, upon reaching his majority, he came to Douglas from Deadwood and in association with Bob White opened a saloon in this town, being later engaged in such business on his own account. In 1918 he disposed of the business and retired and has since spent his time leisurely, though still holding considerable property interests in this community. Mr. Pringle was never married and is survived by tow nieces and a nephew; Mrs. Conlon of Pringle, SD, Mrs. A.N. Spencer, of Florence, CO, who formerly resided here, and Charles Pringle, also of Pringle, SD. Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. Pringle, Of Pringle, and Attorney Richard C. Maurer of this city, left for San Diego, there to make arrangements for the funeral. Burial was at Custer, So. Dakota. In the passing of Theodore Pringle, another splendid citizen has been called into the Great Beyond; another pioneer has gone to his reward and the community is again saddened because of the thinning of the ranks of those who came before and by their efforts made possible the development of this great state.
