Description	:	Big Timber Pioneer, June 20, 1957 Theodore Sol Lavold, 92, died at the hospital in Missoula Tuesday at 11 a.m. following an illness of several years. Mr. Lavold was born in Flekefjord, Norway, in 1865, and when he was 17 years old he came with his family to the United States, settling first in Minnesota. About five years later he and his brother Ben came to Melville by stage and a few weeks later came to Big Timber where deceased obtained employment with John Hoff. Read More	Big Timber Pioneer, June 20, 1957 Theodore Sol Lavold, 92, died at the hospital in Missoula Tuesday at 11 a.m. following an illness of several years. Mr. Lavold was born in Flekefjord, Norway, in 1865, and when he was 17 years old he came with his family to the United States, settling first in Minnesota. About five years later he and his brother Ben came to Melville by stage and a few weeks later came to Big Timber where deceased obtained employment with John Hoff. Later Mr. Lavold homesteaded in the vicinity of Porcupine butte out of Melville. In 1892 he formed a partnership with his brother Ben whereby he became the operator of a sheep ranch. He also operated sheep shearing outfit for all the large ranches in the vicinity. Mr. Lavold sold his Porcupine butte ranch in 1927 and upon his retirement two years later moved to Big Timber. He had made his home with two daughters; Mrs. Albert (Stella) Ayers now of Missoula and Mrs. John Kirwood of Laurel, since his retirement. Mrs. Lavold preceded him in death in 1944.
