His age was eighty-one years. Mr. Testroet's death was caused by complications following a stroke which he suffered three weeks ago. He had been taken from his home to the hospital Sunday. Funeral services are to be at _ o'clock Friday morning at St. Augustine's Church here, with the Rev. H. B. Kramer officiating at the requiem mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The body is being returned this afternoon from the Dietrich Funeral Home to the family residence here, to rest until the time of the rites. Mr. Testroet, a son of Bernard and Catherine Testroet, was born in Anholt [a district of the city of Isselburg, in the Borkener Landkreis, Nordrhein-Westfalen], Germany, June 13, 1860. Coming to the United States when he was twenty-one years old, he worked in the vicinity of Davenport and then returned to his native land. At the age of twenty-five, he came back to the United States and settled in Carroll county where he had lived ever since. Feb 13, 1892, he was married to Miss Sophie Schornagel at Holy Angel's Church, Roselle. The couple established their home on a farm near Templeton, where they lived for seventeen years. The next sixteen years were spent on a farm south of Halbur, from which they moved into town thirteen years ago. Mr. Testroet is survived by his wife and eight children: Theodore Testroet, Gray; Mrs. Henry Anstoeter (Anna), Halbur; John and Henry Testroet, Ogalalla, Neb.; William, Joe, and Frank Testroet, and Mrs. John Buelt (Bertha), Halbur. There are eighteen grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Hubert Testroet, 88 years old, of Ionia, Ia., and two sisters living in Anholt, Germany. He was one of a family of eight children. One son, Joseph, died in infancy, and one daughter, Mrs. William Halbur (Mary), died at Iona, Minn., Aug. 24, 1933. Mr. Testroet was a member of St. Augustine's Church.
