Description	:	Theora Mae (Barnes) Shoup was born on a farm west of Reynolds, NE, August 20, 1900, the daughter of Essie and Willard Barnes. She departed this life September 1, 1994 at the Blue Valley Lutheran Home at the age of 94 years and 11 days. At the age of approximately five the family moved to a farm north of Hubbell where she grew up and attended school at the then Loyalty School. Read More	Theora Mae (Barnes) Shoup was born on a farm west of Reynolds, NE, August 20, 1900, the daughter of Essie and Willard Barnes. She departed this life September 1, 1994 at the Blue Valley Lutheran Home at the age of 94 years and 11 days. At the age of approximately five the family moved to a farm north of Hubbell where she grew up and attended school at the then Loyalty School. Her time after completing the 8th grade was spent helping at home and domestic work for other families. She was united in marriage to Lee Shoup June 9, 1925. To this union two daughters were born Donna Lee and Bonnie. The family lived on a farm west of Hubbell until March 1933 when they moved to Alexandria. They lived there until 1944 when they moved to a farm south of Hebron and later to Hebron. She worked for approximately 20 years as a cook at Thayer County Memorial Hospital. After she retired she enjoyed quilt making and gardening. She made many beautiful quilts for her family which will be cherished. She was a member and willing worker at the ladies group of the Hebron United Methodist Church. Theora was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her two daughters and husband, Donna Lee and Fred Yuhl of Lincoln and Bonnie and Keith Miller, Falls City; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Henry, Hebron; one brother, Glenn, Santa Barbara, CA; and special friends Lyle and Jean Jacobitz and family. Services were held at First United Methodist Church of Hebron on Monday, Sept. 5, 1994, 11 a.m. with Pastor Don Studley. Pallbearers were Carol Hoffman, Steve Hoffman, Wesley Miller, Lonnie Jacobitz, Linda Swails and Jim Swails. Interment was made at the Chester Cemetery, Chester, NE.
