Description	:	UHLIG, THEQUATA — Thequata Uhlig was born Decoration Day, May 30, 1905, at Craig, Mo., the second oldest of six children of Seldon and Minnie Bowman. Her early years were spent in Craig. The family moved to Falls City where her father worked. She married Joe Uhlig of Falls City on August 16, 1924. Read More	UHLIG, THEQUATA — Thequata Uhlig was born Decoration Day, May 30, 1905, at Craig, Mo., the second oldest of six children of Seldon and Minnie Bowman. Her early years were spent in Craig. The family moved to Falls City where her father worked. She married Joe Uhlig of Falls City on August 16, 1924. Three children were born to this union, the first being stillborn, Betty of Geneva and Bob of Omaha. Thequata and Joe lived in Falls City the first years of their marriage, where Joe was associated with his father in the bakery. The Uhligs moved to Geneva in 1940, where they bought the bakery, naming it Uhlig’s Bakery. They operated the bakery and later added a delivery truck to better serve their customers. During World War II, they opened a café next door to their bakery and operated both of the businesses. Thequata was the cook at both of their cafes and was known for her good food. Thequata is survived by a daughter of Geneva, and a son of Omaha, and their families, six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, a sister and husband of Charlott Harbor, Fl. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe in 1966, her parents, two sisters, two brothers and a grandson, Dale Uhlig. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Friday, September 8, with the Rev. Cal Leeds officiating. Musical selections were “Amazing Grace” and “Just a Closer Walk with Thee.” Pallbearers were George I. Cruse, William Faimon, Dean Reinsch, Steve Seward, J.R. Stewart and Charles Turner.
