Description	:	Thomas Albert Wendling, 82, rural Halstead, died on Tuesday (May 15, 2012) at his home in the bedroom where he was born on Nov. 23,1929, the son of Felix and Erma King Wendling. He farmed from age 13 until his death. He also became an avid gardner in his later years. He attended rural school district 34, riding his horse two and a half miles every day. He farmed from age 13 until his death. He also became an avid gardner in his later years. He attended rural school district 34, riding his horse two and a half miles every day. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halstead. He married Norma Penner on Dec. 29, 1948, in Newton. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Linda Heidebrecht and friend, Craig Pecenka of Newton; son, Patrick and wife Bonnie Wendling of rural Halstead; a granddaughter, Shelly Riffel and husband, Kurt of Newton; and his loving cat, Andrew. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leland and Donald Wendling; and a sister, Marjorie Berger. Visitation with the family will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead. The Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Halstead. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Stephen Baxter officiating. Burial will follow at Halstead Cemetery in Halstead.
