Description	:	Thomas Anderson Loyd married Rhoda Jane Padgett 23 Jan 1836 in Amherst, Amherst Co., VA. In 1838, Thomas, along with his brother William, traveled the Wilderness Tail from Virginia through the Cumberland Gap to Kentucky and later to Missouri where they settled in Franklin County. They were tobacco farmers and made cigars to trade in St. Louis, about 65 miles down the Missouri River from their farm. On one of these trips, Thomas caught cholera and died from it.
