Read More	Thomas Aubrey Hudson Laurens July 24, 1923 - August 11, 2014 MY HERO IS GONE Thomas Aubrey Hudson, 91, has passed from this world to his new and better home with our Lord Jesus. Tom was the third son of the late E.K. Hudson, Sr and Nellie Burley Hudson, born in Greenville, SC. His family moved to Laurens in the 40's. He retired from J.P. Stevens Watts Plant after 45 years of service. Tom was a member of Lucas Avenue Baptist Church and served in various roles including Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Teacher, Member of the Chancel Choir, Youth Council, and Men's Chorus. Along with his wife, he was a sponsor of the Chapel Choir. During this time they travelled as chaperones, with the Choir to locations in Florida, Colorado, Canada, New York, and etc. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Joyce Sims Hudson, and a special grandson who was the light of his life, John Cody Hudson of Mauldin, one brother, Jimmy (Buddy) Hudson of Laurens, one sister in law, Lena Hudson of Greenwood, a daughter in law Kathy Hoffman of Mauldin, Grandchildren Andrew Woods of Comer GA, and Dr. Misty Woods-Corcoran of Hillsborough, NC. Tom was preceded in death by a son Johnny Hudson, and 6 brothers and sisters; E. K. Hudson, Jr, Viola Ivey, Elizabeth Riddle, Tracy Hudson, Thelma Hardy – Tom's Twin Sister, and Mary Anne Neal. Tom was a man of strong faith and a caring and loving friend to all who knew him. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. Tom Was a World War II Veteran who loved his country, a devout patriot. During the war Tom was stationed in Africa and Italy. He was the recipient of multiple medals for his service, including The Purple Heart for being wounded on Anzio. Tom was a well-read person who loved books, particularly books about the Bible, The wars of the World, and History. Tom Loved sports and spent many hours assisting Dusty Oats at Ford High School. He loved all kinds of Music and most anytime you ran into him he was singing. He was especially fond of Opera, Classical, Southern Gospel, and Western. The nurses at the Nursing Home and Hospital loved to hear him sing. He lived his life with a song in his heart and honored his Lord every day of his life by witnessing. In all of his affairs he never let the way of the world dictate his life. Tom lived life to the fullest. Along with his fondness of Western Music he and Mary Joyce were former members of The Piedmont Promenadiers, a Western Square Dance Group. Tom never met a stranger and had a wonderful energetic spirit. We miss you already and do not know how life will be without you. We pray that with what you have taught us and Gods Guidance we will make it. We love you and our world will not be the same without you. Illness can rob you of Earthly life but it cannot touch the wonders of our Lord and our Heavenly Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Lucas Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will be at the home and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary from 7:00-8:30 PM on Wednesday, August 13, 2014.
