Thomas Bilson, son of William and Melinda Bilson, was born on a farm north of Eureka, Kansas, August 11, 1875, and passed away at the Wheeler Nursing Home in Eureka, November 21, 1954, at the age of 79 years, three months and ten day. Mr. Bilson lived a greater part of his life in and near Eureka. Thomas Bilson, son of William and Melinda Bilson, was born on a farm north of Eureka, Kansas, August 11, 1875, and passed away at the Wheeler Nursing Home in Eureka, November 21, 1954, at the age of 79 years, three months and ten day. Mr. Bilson lived a greater part of his life in and near Eureka. He was educated in the public schools and later attended the Southern Kansas Academy: and what was then known as the State agricultural collage at Manhattan Kansas. On September 14, 1898, he was married to Lorena Gregg at Eureka, Kansas. For several years after their marriage he was a farmer and stockman, and later turned to construction work in which he continued until failing health forced him to retire. To the union of Tom and Lorena Bilson, nine children were born. He was preceded in death by his companion on April 26, 1936, and four of his children: Thomasine, Pauline, Violet and Loyd: his father and mother, and two brothers William and Harry. Those remaining to mourn his passing are his children: Donald Bilson of Scott City, Kansas; Harold Bilson, Torrance, California: Evelyn Hofsteller, El Dorado, Kansas; Irene Garvin and Paul Bilson of Eureda: 32 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral service was held from the Baird Funeral Home Wednesday, November 24, at 10:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. H.F. Schaechtele. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery where he was laid to rest beside his loved ones who have passed on before.
