Tom Bradshaw Died Last Sunday Would Have Been 80 Years Old On March 12th Funeral Wednesday At Immanuel Church One of Crisfield's oldest and well-loved residents, David Thomas Bradshaw, died at his home on Broadway Sunday afternoon, from a complication of diseases. He would have been 80 years of age had he lived until the 12th of March. Capt. Tom was born on Smith's Island, a son of the late David T. Bradshaw and Sally Ann Marshall Bradshaw, came to Crisfield when he was a young man, and resided here for about sixty years. He had always been a waterman by profession, catching crabs in summer, dredging for oysters in winter, until the infirmities of age compelled him to forego this work to a large degree. He loved his profession and took pride in it, and was regarded as one of the best informed men in the community on the subject of the development and catching of seafood products. A quiet man, friendly, sincere, he had many friends who admired and respected him for his generous nature, his energy and his honesty. He was a good citizen for all the years of his life, interested in the welfare of the community and of the people. For most of his life he had been connected with the Methodist church, and found his greatest pleasure in attending and participating in church services. He lived religiously, worked religiously, and died in the faith. Funeral services were held in Immanuel Methodist Church, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. R. Bicking, assisted by Rev. J. T. Rowlenson, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church. Interment was in Crisfield cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Bradshaw, one daughter, Mrs. Sarah Moore, and two sons, John W. Bradshaw and Thomas Ewing Bradshaw, all of whom reside in Crisfield. One brother, William, and a sister, Mrs. Annie Evans, who live in Virginia, also survive. The Crisfield Times, Crisfield, Maryland, February 27, 1942, p. 1
