Funeral services was Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Wessington Springs. Burial was at the Mizpah Cemetery at Plankinton. Tom was born on April 24, 1954, in Mitchell, to Ray and Betty (Anton) Hoefert. He attended Wilmarth Country School until 6th grade. Tom was born on April 24, 1954, in Mitchell, to Ray and Betty (Anton) Hoefert. He attended Wilmarth Country School until 6th grade. He then went to Lane School through his sophomore year and graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1972. After high school Tom continued farming with his Dad on the family farm south of Wessington Springs until he passed away. He was joined in marriage to Joan Fett on January 16, 1982. To this union two daughters were born, Rebecca (Becki) and Cristin. He was involved in many community activities and took pride in everything he did. These activities included Jaycee’s, EMT, Yelduz Shrine, and Pheasants Forever. His hobbies included his time on the Dey Angus Softball team, deer and pheasant hunting with many friends and family, bowling and spending time with his granddaughters. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Becki (Brandon) Haiar, of Alexandria; Cristin (Jason) Weber, of Wessington Springs; his mother, Betty, of Mitchell; one sister Connie (Kelly) Larson; two granddaughters; his mother-in-law, Donna Fett, of Plankinton; brothers-in-law, John (Lori) Fett, of Plankinton, Ed (Merridy) Fett, of Plankinton; and other nieces and a nephews.
