Lauder, 83, pioneer resident of North Dakota who came to this state in 1881, died at 7:45 a.m., Sunday at a local hospital after a lingering illness. The cause of death was creeping paralysis. Mr. Lauder has been a resident of Bismarck for the past 17 years. He was employed in the office of the state auditor for two terms, served for over a year in the office of the motor vehicle registrar and was messenger for Governor George Shafer during the 1931 session of the legislature. He was born August 28, 1850, at Medina, Orleans county, New York. Coming to Wahpeton in 1881, Mr. Lauder was deputy superintendent of schools for a number of years. On St. Patrick's day in 1883 he was married to Miss Margaret Louisa Morris at Fargo. Two years ago the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at Jamestown. After their marriage Mr. Lauder built a home on his claim near Ramson City, later moving to Sargent county. During the nine years he lived in Sargent county, Mr. Lauder held two county offices, was register of deeds for six years and deputy sheriff for one year.
