Read More	Gaffney, SC - - Thomas Edward Fitzgerald, 82, of 376 Draytonville Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Mary Black Health System-Gaffney. Born in Gaffney, he was the husband of the late Shirley Lanier Fitzgerald and son of the late Vernon Fitzgerald and Ethel Pearson Fitzgerald. He retired from Bonitz Construction, and member of Corinth Baptist Church. He loved fishing, NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon, and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ed was a U. S. Army veteran and was stationed in Germany with the 5th Division in the early 1950's. Surviving are two sons, Wayne Fitzgerald of Simpsonville and Tommy Fitzgerald, Jr. of the home; a daughter, Cynthia Fitzgerald of the home; a sister, Peggy Scruggs of Gaffney; three grandchildren, Dustin Reynolds, Kelli Fitzgerald and Craig Fitzgerald; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Carter and Mason. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James "Buck" Fitzgerald, Wilburn "Bill" Fitzgerald and Barney Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Blakely Funeral Home. Memorial services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: American Heart Association, 3535 Pelham Road, Suite 101, Greenville, SC 29615. The family will be at the residence, 376 Draytonville Road, Gaffney.
