Description	:	This memorial was created based in part on burial information included in South Dakota death certificate 107760 and cemetery records. Thomas was born in England, the son of Edward and Martha (Rear) Rick. In April of 1850, with his parents and 8 siblings, Thomas immigrated to the United States on the ship "Camillus". Read More	This memorial was created based in part on burial information included in South Dakota death certificate 107760 and cemetery records. Thomas was born in England, the son of Edward and Martha (Rear) Rick. In April of 1850, with his parents and 8 siblings, Thomas immigrated to the United States on the ship "Camillus". Arriving at the port of New Orleans, they made their way to the Council Hill, Jo Daviess County, Illinois area. January 22, 1867, Thomas married Josephine Arthur. They farmed in the White Oak Springs, WI area for several years, then made their way to Franklin County, Iowa. Sometime in the early 1900's, Thomas and his family moved to South Dakota where he remained until his death. The 1910 census states 7 children were born, but only 2 survived to adulthood. In the Galena Daily Gazette, IL paper for May 31, 1889, an obituary for his daughter Rena May Rick states she died of diphtheria. It also makes reference to Rena's brothers and sister dying of the same disease 7 years earlier.
