Read More	The Monon News, Thursday, May 1, 1952 TOM RICE DIES SUDDENLY; BODY RETURNED TO MONON Services at Nickler Funeral Home Friday Afternoon The body of Thomas Edward (Tom) Rice, 29, who died suddenly at 8 o'clock Tuesday morning after a short illness, was brought to Monon yesterday. Friends may call at the Nickler Funeral Home until time of service at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the funeral home. Mr. Rice was born Nov. 28, 1932, at Colburn, Ind., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn W. Rice and came to the Monon community in 1934. He was graduated from the Monon high school in 1941 and from Illinois University where he studied journalism, in 1947. On May 28, 1946, he was married to Thalica Coleman at Rapid City, South Dakota. For the past seven years he had made his home at Springfield, Ill. with the exception of one year at Petersburg, Ill. An employee of the Illinois Civil Service publicity department, he was in charge of the publicity for the Lincoln play "Forever Our Land" which runs for two months during the summer at the New Salem State Park. A veteran of three years with the Army, he had served with the 8th Airforce in England for nine months. Surviving with the wife are one son, Steven Andrew, 3, the parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Rice of Monon, and a brother, Pvt. Robert Gene Rice who arrived home yesterday afternoon from Indiantown Gap Military Reservation, Pa, on a five-day leave. The Rev. Paul M. Baker will officiate at the funeral service and burial will be in the Bedford cemetery.
