Memorial services will be 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Shelton P. Sanford III officiating. Burial will be prior to the service at 1:30 p.m. in Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery with full military honors conducted by The Honor Guard of Frank Roach Post 34 of The American Legion in Rock Hill. A native of Spartanburg, S.C., Tom was a son of the late Thomas E. Bankhead Sr. and the late Virginia Long Bankhead. A charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, he was a former deacon and member of the church choir. He was a 1950 graduate of Clemson College and retired from Good Motor Company where he was a salesman for over 38 years. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division in France during World War II and was a member of Frank Roach Post 34 of The American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Julia Stowe Bankhead of the home; two daughters, Sylvia B. Spears of Spartanburg, S.C., and Sandra B. Mauldin and husband, Will, of Rock Hill; his sister, Eleanor Bankhead Craig of Stanley, N.C.; and four grandchildren, Lauren Spears, Michael Spears, Layne Mauldin and Collins Mauldin. The family will receive friends at Westminster Presbyterian Church following the memorial service and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1300 India Hook Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to Hospice & Community Care, P.O.
