Hoover, 88, a resident of this community for the past 65 years died at 3:20 PM Monday at the home of his son, Henry F. Hoover, 422 Gray St. He was born August 26, 1858, at Grasshopper Kansas, the son of Harry and Nancy Mae Hoover and was married March 3, 1886, to Laura Albertson, who died April 6, 1940. Hoover, 88, a resident of this community for the past 65 years died at 3:20 PM Monday at the home of his son, Henry F. Hoover, 422 Gray St. He was born August 26, 1858, at Grasshopper Kansas, the son of Harry and Nancy Mae Hoover and was married March 3, 1886, to Laura Albertson, who died April 6, 1940. He was a former employee of John Morrell & Co., retiring in 1938. He was the last of a family of 10 children is survived by four sons and one daughter; Mrs. Elisa Sporer, Henry F. Hoover, William Hoover, Earl Hoover and Ernest Hoover, all of Ottumwa. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, seven nieces and seven nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday from the Johnson funeral Chapel and 2 PM from the Pentecostal church, conducted by the Rev. W. B. Friend. Burial will be in the Agency cemetery. The casket will be taken to the home of the son at 422 Gray St., Wednesday afternoon and returned to the funeral chapel at 10 AM, Thursday. The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Thomas Hoover, William Hoover, Ernest Hoover Jr, Frank Sporer, Russell Sporer and Fred Sporer.
