Read More	Jager's Funeral Home Obit: Thomas Eugene Rose, 91, of Athens died Friday October 9, 2015 at the VA approved medical foster home of Kathy Elliott, Bucks Lake Road, Guysville. The family is grateful for Kathy’s excellent and tender care. Born in Canaan Township on January 9, 1924, he was the son of Frank and Edna (Sears) Rose. He was a graduate of Rome-Canaan High School. He worked in a machine shop along with his father after graduation. During World War II he served in the 15th Air Force as an airplane electrical mechanic. He served honorably in Europe and Africa from April 8, 1944 until November 18, 1945, where he earned 7 bronze stars in support of Allied campaigns in Rome-Arno, Northern and Southern France, Northern Italy, Rhineland, Po Valley and Central Europe. He married Mary Louise Brown on November 26, 1945 in New York City. He supported his family as a salesman of life insurance, Ford cars, and consumer products for Columbus Merchandise while raising two sons Randy and Ron, and in retirement enjoyed farming and hunting. Some may remember his feisty letters to the editor in the Athens Messenger. Tom was a member of the Athens Lion's Club, the Masonic Lodge (Paramuthia Lodge 25) and the Order of the Eastern Star (Athens Chapter 175). He is survived by his sons, Randy (Mary Kay) Rose of Columbus and Ron Rose of Stuart, Florida; four grandchildren- David (Chasity) Rose of Niceville, FL, Sherry (Rob) Francies of Groveport, Katie Rose of Groveport, and Celeste (Josh) Pratt of Chicago, Ill.; six great grandchildren-Ethan, Mercedes and Evan Rose, and Gracie, Elena and Calvin Francies; a brother, Dick (Sharon Haffner) Rose of Lancaster; a sister-in law, Sharon Dickinson of Toledo, and many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Mary Lou Rose; four brothers and sisters in law- Karl and Wanda Rose, Ray and Dolores Rose, Marion and Hester Rose, and Harry and Ruth Rose; two sisters and brothers in law- Pauline and Howard Pond and Helen and Dwight Scott; and a sister-in-law, Susan Rose. A committal service for his remains will be held Monday, October 26th at 11 a.m. in West Union Street Cemetery, Athens, with the Rev. James S. Lambert officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Donations can be made in Tom's memory to the Athens Lion's Club, c/o Jim McLaren, 926½ E.
