(Gene) Ross, 67, retired employment manager of Brandon Mill, and resident of 28 Smythe Street, Monaghan, will be held today at 4 p.m. in Grandon Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. O. B. Lancaster, the Rev. Roy Gowan and the Rev. A. Boyd Turner. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Active and honorary pallbearers are asked to meet at the church at 3:50 p.m. Pallbearers are H. L. Frost, Hugh Mahon, Milton Byrd, John Ferguson, C. V. (Chuck) McCall and B. P. (Buck) Cheek. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Men's Bible Class of Brandon Baptist Church, together with C. P. Dill, H. B. Kilgore, J. L. Loftis, W. B. Perrin, S. T. Fleming, W. B. Turner, James F. Howard, Ed B. Smith, Boyd Fletcher, Fred Bishop, Arthur Thomas, M. L. Lanford Sr., G. L. Welborn, W. W. White, E. H. Harvey, G. C. Watson, Rev. W. S. Pettus, Jim Owens, Joe T. Hall, O. E. Little and C. F. Stancell. Mr. Ross died at home Saturday after 17 months' illness. He was born and reared at Piedmont, son of the late Thomas and Viola Chandler Ross. At one time, Mr. Ross was connected with Fiske-Carter Construction Company. In 1920 he came to Brandon Mill as outside overseer and director of first aid. He held this position until 1947, when he became employment manager. He retired April 14, 1954. He was a member of Brandon Masonic Lodge and of the Improved Order of Red Men and for six years was great chief of records for the Red Men in South Carolina. Mr. Ross was a member of Monaghan Baptist Church and a former member of Brandon Baptist Church. While at Brandon he served as deacon for 20 years and was teacher of the Men's Bible Class for nine years. Surviving hare his wife, Mrs. Kizzie Henson Ross; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Ross Young and Mrs. Jdames Poole, both of Greenville; four sons, Dacus E. Ross of Woodruff, Clyde M. Ross and Charles D. Ross of Greenville, and Jesse T. Ross of Easley; one brother, Jesse Ross of Greenwood; one sister, Mrs. J. T. Bray of Greenville; and nine grandchildren. The body will be carried to the church at 3 p.m. where it will remain until the hour of the services. Until that time it will be at Jones Mortuary.
