Mr. Shanahan was born March 7, 1891, the son of Joseph Paul and Hattie Shanahan. He was married to Calla Belle Allen of Marsailles, Ill., on Sept. 4, 1917. Before serving in World War I, he was an accountant for the State of Kansas and for a Topeka auditing firm. After the war, he became business manager of Aby Auto Supply until 1924 when he purchased the Leather Products Manufacturing Co., operating this firm until 1929. Mr. Shanahan served as city clerk of Iola from 1930 until he retired in 1957. He held a number of posts in various organizations including the Iola Chamber of Commerce and the Kansas Land and Water Conservation Commission. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Shriners, and he was a 32-degree Mason. In 1959, Mrs. Calla Shanahan died, and on Nov. 22, 1962 he married Mrs. Bernadette Dalton, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Belle Wilson of Neodesha, Kansas, Mrs. Nellouise Sherman of Sault Ste. Mare, Mich., and Mrs. Dorothy Jane Gleason of El Cajon, Calif., three sons, Edgar Eugene Shanahan of Iola, Robert Allen Shanahan of Tulsa, Okla., and John Attison Shanahan of Germany; two bothers, Joseph L. Shanahan of Garnett and Charles of St. Louis; and a sister, Mrs. Freda Bryan of San Jose, Calif. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow at the First Baptist Church with the rev.
