In 1910 Thomas lived in Spokane, Washington with his widowed mother and his brother Frank L. Bush (born circa 1890 in North Dakota.) He married 24 year-old Mary Stegner (first marriage for both) on September 29, 1910, in Spokane County. Mary was the daughter of Joseph A. Stegner and May (Kellog) Stegner.
