The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, at Dan View Cemetery. Mr. Gillie was born on July 21, 1917, in Draper (now Eden), a son of Thomas Edwards and Celeste Frances Gillie, both deceased. He was retired from the Gillie Construction Company. Read More	EDEN — Mr. Thomas Gillie, 91, of 123 Gilley Road, passed away Sunday morning, July 27, 2008, at his residence. The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, at Dan View Cemetery. Mr. Gillie was born on July 21, 1917, in Draper (now Eden), a son of Thomas Edwards and Celeste Frances Gillie, both deceased. He was retired from the Gillie Construction Company. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Draper, where he served as treasurer and a lay member. He had a record of perfect attendance for 45 years and was awarded the Methodist Man of the Year in 1975. He was an avid horse lover. He is survived by his daughter, Melvene Boone and husband, Bob of Eden; his sister, Helen Johnson of Eden; his brothers, Charlie Gillie and Alan Gillie, both of Eden; his grandchildren, Kimberly Kirkland of Canton, Ga. and Angela Clark of Eden; his great grandchildren, Ashley Wilkins, Christopher Potts, Pamela Kirkland and Benjamin Kirkland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Roberts Gillie; granddaughter, Pamela Boone and brother, Melvin Gillie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to First United Methodist Church of Draper Roofing Fund, 130 Main Street, Eden, NC 27288. (Published in the News Record on 7/29/2008)
