Description	:	Death of Thos. Hoskin Mr. Thomas Hoskin, one of the oldest and most esteemed settlers of this district and town, passed away on Friday at his home on the east hill, after being confined to bed for a week; he had been working in the garden the last day he was out. Hoskin Mr. Thomas Hoskin, one of the oldest and most esteemed settlers of this district and town, passed away on Friday at his home on the east hill, after being confined to bed for a week; he had been working in the garden the last day he was out. He had reached his 81st year. It was a striking coincidence that Mr. Allard who married the eldest granddaughter, should die on the same day, within three hours of Mr. Hoskin. Mr. Hoskin was of Cornish descent, and came with his parents when a lad to Toronto, Ontario, in 1857, settling near there, at the time of the building of the Grand Trunk railway. He was married at Streetsville in 1876 to Miss Mary H. Fieldhouse, and Mr. and Mrs. Hoskin and their family had the great pleasure of celebrating their fiftieth anniversary on February 29, 1926, at their home in Red Deer, and Mr. Hoskin's death has been the first break between them. It was only of later years that Mr. and Mrs. Hoskin have suffered the infirmities of age, being busy always with house, garden, cow and chickens. Mr. and Mrs. Hoskin came out west in 1894, and settled on section 10-37-26W4th, Willowdale, now the farm occupied by Mr. T. Kirton. Mr. Hoskin was a progressive farmer, had been chairman of this school board, and was one of the first councillors of the L.I.D. He was well posted on public affairs, a man well read, of independent mind, open, and ever ready to give a reason for the faith which was in him. The family consists of H. W. Hoskin, Calgary; Mrs. A. H. Cody, Edwell; and Mr. Arthur Hoskin, Willowdale. There are seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The loss to Mrs. Hoskin will have much sympathy.
