Lee Thomas Howard... Read More	Howard Aughtry Lyman Thomas Howard Aughtry, 92, beloved husband, father and friend, died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Life Care Center, Charleston. A native of Clinton, S.C., he resided for over 74 years in Lyman, S.C. Howard was a recipient of the Order of the Palmetto, a 32nd Degree Scottish Mason, a Shriner, and was an active member of Lyman United Methodist Church. In his younger days, Howard was an avid quail hunter and was very active with Lyman Scounting. By most of his close friends, he was known as "William Sidney Botto Bee Stonewall Jackson Robert E. Lee Thomas Howard Aughtry Jr. the 4th". Mr. Aughtry was a retired textile supervisor after 47 years in the textile industry. Mr. Aughtry, born on May 25, 1913, was the son of the late Jesse Howard and Thomas Suber Aughtry. He was predeceased by two sisters; and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, the former Christine Virginia Kay, and enjoyed 68 years of marriage to his "one and only love." Mr. Aughtry is also survived by his son, Barry, and his wife, Gay, of Simpsonville; and his two special grandsons, Nicholas of Wilmington, N.C., and Andrew of Greenville; as well as his daughter, Kathleen Aughtry Randall, her husband, Bob, of Summerville; and his special granddaughter, Aughtry Randall. In addition, he is also survived by several special nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of WLT High School, and the holder of his high school's pole vault record. In his early years, he played on the Pacific Mills Basketball team, and had the distinct honor of scrimmaging against the Boston Celtics. He was an avid Clemson University Tiger fan, and was an IPTAY member for 42 consecutive years. More than anything, he was the best dad and granddad any child could have. Graveside services will be held Sunday, April 2, 2006, at 3 p.m., in Wood Memorial Park in Duncan. The family will receive friends Sunday, prior to the service, at the home of Edward and Kay Hunphries on 412 Old Spartanburg Highway, Lyman, S.C., and following the service at the gravesite. The family is at the residence of Barry and Gay Aughtry, 103 Holly Tree Lane, Simpsonville.
