Apgar, of Genoa, Former Columbus Man, Victim of Fatal accident ----------- CAME HERE 47 YEARS AGO ----------- T. J. Apgar, 65, of Genoa, a resident of Platte and adjoining counties for 47 years, died in Columbus hospital at 1:30 a. m. today, death resulting from a gun-shot wound in his left side, received in an accident on his home farm near Genoa last week Thursday. The body will be taken to St. Edward and funeral services will be held at the Methodist church there at 3 p. m. tomorrow. Early Thursday morning of last week Mr. Apgar picked up his double-barreled shotgun, which he had had for 30 years, and started outdoors, presumably to do some hunting. As he reached the kitchen door the gun, which he was dragging by the barrels, was in some manner discharged, the load of shot entering his left side. Attracted by the sound, Mrs. Apgar ran into the kitchen and found him lying in a pool of blood. Mr. Apgar was given medical attention at Genoa until Monday, when he was brought to Columbus hospital. An x-ray examination showed that the left lung had been penetrated by the shot, and infection had set in. Mr. Apgar was born in Pleasanton, Ohio, Nov. 22, 1858, coming to Columbus 47 years ago: As a young man he teamed between Columbus, St. Edward and Genoa, with exception of four years that he resided in Oklahoma. On March 11, 1887, he married Miss Dora Childers who, with their three daughters and two twin sons, survives him. The children are Mrs. A. G. Ploss, of Jerome, Idaho; Mrs. Frank Mather, of Overton, Neb.; Mrs. Harry Ricketts, of St. Edward, and Edwin and Edward Apgar, at home. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Hannah O'Conner of Silver Creek, and Mrs. M. Conner, of Spokane, Wash.
