I went searching for Malachi Denny and the lady at the church said we have a gentlemen here that wrote a book on Carroll County. I couldn't believe I found Malachi, don't think that was just luck. The story is interesting, too long for these notes. It was given to Mr Fallen by Ruth Hendrickson and William Braxton Edmondson. Here is part of the story, " Thomas and Mary "Polly" had 9 children. Thomas and his family migrated to Arkansas from Tennessee with the Cherokee Indians to help them get settled in their new home. His first stop was in Johnson County on Mulberry Creek. They moved next to Washington County on a farm on the White River in a community called Oxford Bend, where Thomas and Mary spent most of their life. Thomas was a minister of the gospel, school teacher, and bear hunter. (Legend has it that he was as much interested in bear hunting as he was in helping the Cherokees). He died about 1855-1860. At his death, Thomas owned a section or two of land near Grandview , Ark, where he was buried in a community cemetery, on the land he owned. The story goes on telling a little about each child. The one that I was most interested in was " Rebecca was the youngest girl, she married Mal Denny. See notes under each child name for comments in this book. It ends with, We have been able to trace Thomas Jefferson Edmonson's lineage back to John Edmondson, 1649-1699. John was a prosperous merchant in Talbot County, Maryland. He and his family were Quakers. My thanks to Mr Fallen , Ruth Hendrickson and William Brazton Edmondson.
