Lynch, 85, pioneer resident of Madison county, died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ireta Johnson of Sheridan, with whom he had resided for the last three years. Lynch, 85, pioneer resident of Madison county, died Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ireta Johnson of Sheridan, with whom he had resided for the last three years. He had been in failing health since May, 1942. A native of Port Byran, Cayuga county, N. Y., born Sept. 12, 1859, Mr. Lynch came to Montana with his parents when he was 13 years of age. The family settled in the Ruby valley near Laurin, where Mr. Lynch grew to manhood. In 1879 he was married to Katherine E. Finnegan. In 1885, the young couple moved to Adobe Town, where their children, four sons and four daughters, were born, and where the family home was maintained until 1935 when Mr. Lynch moved to the L. W. Hansen place near Virginia City. In 1941, he moved to Sheridan to make his home with his daughter. Mr. Lynch was preceded in death by Mrs. Lynch, who died in June 1930, and by two sons and two daughters. One of the sons, Almour, passed away in March of this year. In addition to his daughter, Mrs. Johnson, Mr. Lynch is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John T. Lynch of Portland and William Lynch of Seattle and his wife, who is living in Helena; a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Levings of Billings; a niece, Mrs. Mary Johnston of Anaconda; grandchildren, Mrs. Donald Albrecht, Mrs. Edward Wudel, Mrs. Grace Nyhart, Miss Louise Lynch, Mrs. Alvin Marin, Thomas Leslie Levings, Sgt. Gerald T. Lynch, serving with the Navy at sea, and AS Clayton Shoemaker, training at Farragut, Idaho; seven great-grandchildren and three grand-nieces. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Olsen Funeral chapel at Sheridan with Frank Blair of Virginia City officiating. Interment will be in the family plot in Hillside cemetery at Virginia City. The Virginia City choir composed of Miss Maude Trout, Mrs. Charles E. Raper and Paul H. Love, accompanied by Mrs. F. A. Brim of Sheridan, will sing "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "In the Garden." Mr. Love will offer as a solo, "Old Rugged Cross," at the special request of Mr. Lynch.
