Zimmerman, Early Settler In Mondamin Twp. And Resident of Miller For 33 Years, Dead Thomas Zimmerman, well known pioneer resident of Hand County, passed away Saturday afternoon at his home in this city. Death followed an illness from which he had been a sufferer for some time. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist Church and interment was made in the G.A.R> cemetery. Surviving his death are his widow, three sons, Ora of Minneapolis, Orvel of Des Moines, Iowa, and Aro of San Diego, Calif., and one daughter, Mrs. Dell Yerdon of Miller. There are also four grand children, two sisters and one brother. The deceased was born in Illinois May 28, 1853, and was 78years of age at the time of his death. He was married in 1884 to Miss Jennie L. Stebbins, and the year Mr. and Mrs. Zimmerman came to South Dakota, settling on a homestead in Mondamin township. Here they resided for seven years, and then returned to Iowa. After a short stay in Iowa, they returned to Miller, and for past thirty-three years the family has made its home here. For several years after taking up his residence in Miller, Mr. Zimmerman was engaged in the harness business, later taking up the trade of carpenter, being engaged in that until ill health forced him to give up his work.
